150 kg of food for evacuated animals: how the Frontliner team visited the shelter in Babyntsi
If dogs could talk, their stories would form the basis of more than one bestseller. However, their pain and hope sound different: they erupt in barking and stretch their paws through the bars of their enclosures toward human hands. They are asking for love. Or at least a little attention.
Recently, the Frontliner team visited the animal shelter in Babyntsi, Kyiv region. Together with our pet partner, the animal welfare platform U-Hearts, we brought 150 kg of high-quality food for the shelter’s residents.
This is important support for four-legged friends evacuated from the hottest spots on the front line.
The geography of war in pens
The shelter was founded in 2022, as soon as the Kyiv region was liberated.
Since then, it has become a safe place for those who silently suffer from Russian aggression.
According to the volunteer and founder of the shelter, Mr. Anatolii, you can study the cartography of hostilities through his wards: Bakhmut, Kakhovka, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kramatorsk…
In general, Mr. Anatolii single-handedly takes care of almost a hundred animals.
Animals are brought in
more often than taken home.
The shelter is currently going through difficult times: there is a lack of funds to pay for utilities, and fewer and fewer people are willing to take a dog into their family. It is most difficult for mixed breeds – purebred animals are adopted much more willingly.
Despite all the difficulties, Mr. Anatolii does everything possible to ensure that his wards have the necessary care and nutrition.
